2009 New England AAU Championships
Sunday, April 5, 2009 Download Application Here: 2009 NEAAU Qualifier Application
Greetings AAU Karate Athletes & Parents: We're planning a special weekend for April 4th & 5th; please save the date! On Saturday afternoon, April 4th, from 4-6 PM, you're invited to a special Karate Showcase Event hosted by Okinawan Karate Academy at the Carter Witherell Center. Demonstrations will be given by OKA colored belts, black belts, uchi-deshi (inner students), Sensei Bladyka, and others. Please let us know if you or your school would like to participate in the demonstration, and be sure to invite your family and friends to join us for this event!!! And on Sunday, April 5th, New England AAU will host its annual Spring Karate Tournament, also at the Carter Witherell Center. We strive to provide a competition experience that reflects the principles we promote every day in our karate-dojo; character, sincerity, effort, courtesy, and self-control. Beyond any ribbons and medals, the spring tournament provides a place to refine and test our skills in friendly and fair competition, and to explore the similarities and differences between our various styles and schools. There are no minimum rank limitations for this event; any student who knows the first Kihon kata can participate. Students learn and grow safely by competing with others of similar age and rank. This event is sanctioned by the AAU as the qualifying event for the New England District. Many karate schools and clubs from throughout New England participate each year. The top eight athletes from each division will qualify for the 2009 AAU National Karate Championships, to be held June 15-20 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The top four athletes from each division will qualify for the 2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games, to be held July 27 to August 8, 2009, in Des Moines, Iowa. We ask for your support and participation for these events; and we hope to see you for a great weekend on April 4th and 5th!! And please pass this along to other like-minded karate-ka.
