Youth Colored Belt Testing

January 27, 2011
4:30 pmto6:30 pm

With humble apologies for the late notice, and lack of testing invitations, I have posted the tentative testing roster at the dojo and via email.

If your child is not on the roster, but he or she wishes to test, please notify Sensei Bladyka or Shidoshi Josh. If your child’s name IS on the roster but he or she does NOT wish to test please notify Sensei Bladyka or Shidoshi Josh.  If your child is scheduled to test but you cannot  make it on Thursday, please let us know and we will schedule a make-up during a regular class time at a later date.

About Belt Testing (For Parents of Beginners):  We use three levels of orange belt in the Super Junior class.  In the belt test, each student is asked to show whatever material he or she knows.  Based on the material shown (with reasonable proficiency), white belt students may be awarded one of three levels of orange belts.  Rest assured, we do not fail students at this level (with the possible exception of highly unusual circumstances, such as extremely inappropriate or disruptive behavior).

Belts are awarded as follows:  If students show 15 Basics only, they earn white belt with orange stripe.  For 15 Basics plus Zenshin Kotai, students earn orange belt with white stripe.  For 15 Basics, Zenshin Kotai, and Kihon Kata, students earn the solid orange belt.
